Topic : The Instructions Of A Father.
Memory Verse : Proverbs 4:23. Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
Bible Reading : Proverbs 4:20-22 KJV. Key Verse : v22.
My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
Every worthy father sees the development of their son or child as his responsibility. To that extent, he makes sure that the immediate needs of the son is met. The father gives the child every support within his reach to make sure the son enjoys maximum comfort and he grows to become a man. The words we have in these few verses are words intended to provide a son with wise counsel and guidance through the journey of life. Of course the first teachers every child do have in life are the parents. Children always pick many things they see their parents do and they do all they can to follow their instructions. Not only that, they believe in their parents so much that they see their words as law. They are always ready to counter any idea contrary to what any of their parents taught them. It is good to note here that to succeed in life we have to live before God as dependant children.
Now God almighty is our ultimate father who created us in his image and likeness, so that we can take care of every other things he created, as long as we live. Anyone therefore who intends to succeed in life must pay attention to what God is saying. This is because any situation we can find ourselves in at any point in life has been addressed by the word of God. We can always draw strength from the experience and testimonies of characters in the word of God whose experiences was shared to encourage or strengthen us when we encounter similar situations in our personal lives or walk with God. Whatever worked for men in their walk with God yesterday, will always work for us today because the God we serve does not change. As children, we have to create time daily to hear God through his written word. The more we listen to him, the wiser we become in all we do. We are to fix our eyes on the sayings of our father till they become a compass for us helping us to navigate through life. The Psalmist rightly said that his word ia a lamp unto our feet providing direction in everything we do, helping us to avoid traps that can destroy our being. Because the heart is the engine room that determines the strength of a man, the word is the fuel that it needs to be fired on in the paths of victory. That’s the reason the word can’t be lacking in our hearts or spirit man where it has to provide the nutrients that makes for healthy spiritual upkeep daily. When it is lacking in any life, the spiritual life of such individual will be having question marks as a result of malfunctioning.
Again, the word of our father is medicinal to our spirit, soul and body. God created us in a manner that our lives can’t be sound outside his instructions. The word gives life or capacity (strength) to make things happen to our spirit man and at the same time provides sound health to our soul and body. Therefore When any part of us seems not to function properly or is sick, if we keep taking some dose of the word daily, before you know it, we will always bounce back in sound health. “Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death. Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses. He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!” Psalms 107:18-21.
Prayer : Thank you Father for being there always for me. Help me to understand your love and commitment to my well being. Help me to live my life follwing your instructions, so that it can be well with me in Jesus wonderful name…. Amen 🙏🏿.
Yearly Bible Reading : 2 Samuel 13:1-18.
