Bible Reading :Acts 9:36-38 GNB. Key Verse:v41.

In Joppa there was a woman named Tabitha, who was a believer. (Her name in Greek is Dorcas, meaning “a deer”.) She spent all her time doing good and helping the poor. At that time she became ill and died. Her body was washed and laid in a room upstairs. Joppa was not very far from Lydda, and when the believers in Joppa heard that Peter was in Lydda, they sent two men to him with the message, “Please hurry and come to us.”

The Bible is not an ordinary book, but one that is inspired by the grace of by God through his Spirit to teach men how to pattern their lives, following the example of Jesus Christ himself and other great men that walked with God almighty. Here we can see that Dorcas was a believer that was full of good works in her lifetime. She had been a blessing to the less privileged around her. When she took ill and died suddenly, the people she touched their lives refused to let her go just like that. They rather sent for Apostle Peter trusting God for a miracle, so that she will live again.

When Peter arrived, he met some widows displaying clothes she made for them and people who who were crying and making all kinds of noise. He refused to identify with their noise and confusion. He rather sent them all out of the room, so that he could have the right atmosphere to talk to God who holds the keys to life and death. After that, he knelt down to worship and talk to God almighty. When he had God’s backing, he turned the the dead and called her back to life. “Peter put them all out of the room, and knelt down and prayed; then he turned to the body and said, “Tabitha, get up!” She opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter, she sat up. Peter reached over and helped her get up. Then he called all the believers, including the widows, and presented her alive to them. The news about this spread all over Joppa, and many people believed in the Lord.” Acts 9:40-42.

One of things we need to learn by this miracle is that, God does something about ugly situations only when we ourselves (believers) decide to do something. Dorcas would have been buried just like that if not that the believers in Joppa refused let her go. They trusted God to restore her back to life and took concrete steps by sending for Peter whom God used to restore her life for their sake. Jesus was very clear about the authority of the church here on earth in Matthew 16:18-19. We also need to learn from the actions of Peter on arrival, did the right thing by sending away the mourners and noise makers, so that he could communicate with God. In some difficult times, we need to learn to withdraw from the noise of people, the hustling and bustling, so that we can get directions from the master himself. One of the secrets of the impactful earthly ministry of Jesus Christ was the time he withdrew from the crowd to spend time alone on the mountains praying, sometimes all night before taking important decisions and to recharge for his assignment. Anytime he comes down, things begins to happen, Luke 6:12.

Prayer :Thank you Father God because there is nothing you cannot do. From today, help me to understand how to provoke your intervention in every area of my life that I need it. Help me to live a prayerful life, so that my life can manifest your power and glory in Jesus wonderful name…. Amen 🙏🏿.
