Topic : Live To Honour God.

Memory Verse: Daniel 3:18. But even if he doesn’t, it wouldn’t make a bit of difference, O king. We still wouldn’t serve your gods or worship the gold statue you set up.”

‭‭Daniel‬ ‭3:15‭-‬16‬ ‭MSG‬‬. Key Verse: v16.

I’m giving you a second chance—but from now on, when the big band strikes up you must go to your knees and worship the statue I have made. If you don’t worship it, you will be pitched into a roaring furnace, no questions asked. Who is the god who can rescue you from my power?” Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered King Nebuchadnezzar, “Your threat means nothing to us.

King Nebuchadnezzar was an idol worshipper. At the height of his reign, his mind was beclouded with pride and error. After God Almighty to whom belongeth power made him great and respected, he gave glory to satan by raising an idol of a golden image of himself as a symbol of power in his territory, which he set up on the plain of Dura. He passed a decree that all men in his territory should worship this image, contrary to the commands of God Almighty. “A herald then proclaimed in a loud voice: “Attention, everyone! Every race, color, and creed, listen! When you hear the band strike up—all the trumpets and trombones, the tubas and baritones, the drums and cymbals—fall to your knees and worship the gold statue that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up. Anyone who does not kneel and worship shall be thrown immediately into a roaring furnace.” Daniel 3:4-6.

When Shadrach, meshach and Abednego could not comply, their contemporaries (fellow wise men) reported them to the king. The king had to summon these three Hebrew young men and gave them a second chance to redeem themselves before the king. The king reminded them of the consequences of their not complying, which is being thrown into a furnance of fire prepared by the king to sacrifice such men to his gods. These threats never moved these three Hebrew young men. They assured the king that Almighty God whom they served will be able to deliver them. Not only that, their mind was made up to die in the furnance of fire should God Almighty decide not to deliver them from the fire the king had kindled.

When the king saw that they turned down his offer of a second chance to get into his good books and come under the wrath of God, he became most annoyed and ordered that the heat of the fire be increased seven times, but these young men were not moved. At the end of the day, the Lord delivered them. The lives of their persecutors who threw them into the fire was taken in exchange for theirs. “Suddenly King Nebuchadnezzar jumped up in alarm and said, “Didn’t we throw three men, bound hand and foot, into the fire?””That’s right, O king,” they said. “But look!” he said. “I see four men, walking around freely in the fire, completely unharmed! And the fourth man looks like a son of the gods!” Daniel 3:24-25. Today we must note that it’s better to obey God in every given situation, even when our lives or means of livelihood is being threatened. It may be in the office, marketplace or where we live. It is better to obey the Lord and be exposed to dangers of threats of men than obey men and be exposed to the wrath of God.

Prayer :Thank you Father God because power belongs to you and you alone. Let this understanding sink deep inside me. Anytime my faith in you is tried by men that doesn’t fear you, help me not to fall. Let my life be tailored to honor you and not fellow men in everything I do in Jesus precious name…. Amen 🙏🏿.
