ENTHRONEMENT ASSEMBLY DAILY DEVOTIONALS.

Friday 10th November, 2023.

Topic: The School Of Nehemiah.

Memory Verse: Nehemiah 4:3. At his side, Tobiah the Ammonite jumped in and said, “That’s right! What do they think they’re building? Why, if a fox climbed that wall, it would fall to pieces under his weight.”

Bible Reading: Nehemiah 4:1-2 MSG. Key Verse: v2.

When Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wall he exploded in anger, vilifying the Jews. In the company of his Samaritan cronies and military he let loose: “What are these miserable Jews doing? Do they think they can get everything back to normal overnight? Make building stones out of make-believe?”

The Jews that returned from exile by divine intervention were doing a great job that the entire region took note of. All hands were on deck as they were totally committed to the task of rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem that was burnt and broken down during the conquest of their territory by the Babylonians. Their enemies were helpless concerning this new and unexpected move of God over the land of Israel. They sought to weaken their hands and get them discouraged from continuing their rebuilding project. Sanbalat and Tobiah led the group of enemies to mock the great work the people of God was doing out of envy thinking they could stop the work from being a complished. Nehemiah refused to bow to their mockery, but turned to God in prayers for help. “Nehemiah prayed, “Oh listen to us, dear God. We’re so despised: Boomerang their ridicule on their heads; have their enemies cart them off as war trophies to a land of no return; don’t forgive their iniquity, don’t wipe away their sin—they’ve insulted the builders!” Nehemiah 4:4-5.

“We kept at it, repairing and rebuilding the wall. The whole wall was soon joined together and halfway to its intended height because the people had a heart for the work. When Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard that the repairs of the walls of Jerusalem were going so well—that the breaks in the wall were being fixed—they were absolutely furious. They put their heads together and decided to fight against Jerusalem and create as much trouble as they could.” Nehemiah 4:6-8. The more resolute and determined Nehemiah and the rebuilding Jews were to finish the work they began, the more their enemies devised fresh strategies to place obstacles on their way.

Today, we need to learn that some mockery and discouraging words from the camp of enemies is a sign that they are feeling the heat of the work we are doing, especially for the kingdom. Secondly, nothing good can be achieved in life, if you are not ready to face the opposition and conquer them. Thirdly, anytime you are faced with difficult enemies, know that the key to victory is fighting them in the place of prayer, where we have the backing of the cross. If you read through the entire picture, you will see that Nehemiah valued prayer from beginning to the end of the assignment. Again, Nehemiah was a man of courage and strong faith. God told Joshua repeatedly in chapter one that one of the keys to his fulfilling his assignment was to be strong in faith and very courageous. On a final note, always ask God for his wisdom in everything you do. The wisdom of God was at work in Nehemiah that helped him counter everything the enemies threw at him, till the work was accomplished. Nehemiah 7:1 – 6.

Prayer: Thank you Father God because every good work you began in my life, you will accomplish. Today I ask for your wisdom and strength to be at work in me. Nothing committed to my care will fail. I receive grace to accomplish every good thing I began in Jesus’ precious name…. Amen 🙏🏿.

Yearly Bible Reading: Acts 21:18-36.
