Memory Verse: Luke 18:1 day Jesus taught the apostles to keep praying and never stop or lose hope. He shared with them this illustration:
Bible Reading: Luke 18:2-3 TPT. Key Verse: v3.
“In a certain town there was a civil judge, a thick-skinned and godless man who had no fear of others’ opinions. And there was a poor widow in that town who kept pleading with the judge, ‘Grant me justice and protect me against my oppressor!’
Prayer is a very important lifestyle every believer that wants to succeed must cultivate. The power and effect of prayer is timeless. Jesus used the parable of the consistent widow to drive home his point on the need for believers to be persistent in the place of prayer here, till we see what we desire. Looking at the judge, he had no regard for neither men nor God himself. But because this widow was constant in going to him to ask for help against her enemies who was making life unbearable for her, she got her heart desire granted at the end, though it was not an easy process.
Now we can see that this particular widow in this picture had no imoney to use and get what get justice or defend herself against the incursions of her oppressors. Her husband, who would have been her pillar and defense has been taken away from her by the cold hands of death. The only way she could get help at this point in time was by the intervention of this particular judge who was full of himself because of his placement in the society. Her refusal to be discouraged by the attitude of the judge as to give up was key to her receiving attention at last and her request being granted.
In like manner, if ourselves can be consistent in prayer before the Lord, though answers may look delayed sometimes, God will certainly come through for us, as his children. Again, we need to understand that here that consistency is seeking the Lord till we find him is always a product of faith. “Now faith brings our hopes into reality and becomes the foundation needed to acquire the things we long for. It is all the evidence required to prove what is still unseen. This testimony of faith is what previous generations were commended for. Faith empowers us to see that the universe was created and beautifully coordinated by the power of God’s words! He spoke and the invisible realm gave birth to all that is seen.” Hebrews 11:1-3.
Prayer :Thank you Father God because you care so much about me. Thank you because you are a prayer answering God. Today, give me a heart that is stayed on you in faith. Help me not to relent in prayers, even when I experience delays. Thank you because you will always come through for me in Jesus blessed name….. Amen 🙏🏿.
