and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all. Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

Apostle Paul began this chapter by making us know that as believers, our priorities on earth must change to align with our new found faith in Jesus Christ. We are to live to value and pursue things that are in the heavenlies because they have eternal value. Things of this world are not meant to control us anymore since they are temporal and fading away. “Don’t set the affections of your heart on this world or in loving the things of the world. The love of the Father and the love of the world are incompatible. For all that the world can offer us—the gratification of our flesh, the allurement of the things of the world, and the obsession with status and importance—none of these things come from the Father but from the world. This world and its desires are in the process of passing away, but those who love to do the will of God live forever.” 1 John 2:15-17 TPT.

We have to put on consciously the nature of God by the help of his indwelling Spirit. This becomes possible when we open up to learn at the feet of Jesus himself who is the greatest teacher ever. We have to go for his teachings and that of men who sat under him, men who was used to pass the baton of faith to us. We have to be desirous to know more of Jesus, we have to go after every of his instructions in order to live by them. This is because knowledge becomes profitable only when we apply such to get desired results. “If you listen to the Word and don’t live out the message you hear, you become like the person who looks in the mirror of the Word to discover the reflection of his face in the beginning. You perceive how God sees you in the mirror of the Word, but then you go out and forget your divine origin. But those who set their gaze deeply into the perfecting law of liberty are fascinated by and respond to the truth they hear and are strengthened by it—they experience God’s blessing in all that they do!” James 1:23-25 TPT.

Finally for today, we must understand that in Christ we have become one, our tribe, language, race, colour and nationality notwithstanding. In Christ we have become members of the family of God and builders of his kingdom. We therefore have a common destiny in him. It will take therefore a heart of love and forgiveness to manage our various differences and sometimes weaknesses that may result in offenses when relating closely with one another. The Lord expects us to extend the unconditional love including the forgiveness we received from him to other believers anytime they offend us. Jesus taught that when we love one another, we will be proving to the world that we really belong to him. ““So I give you now a new commandment: Love each other just as much as I have loved you. For when you demonstrate the same love I have for you by loving one another, everyone will know that you’re my true followers.”” John 13:34-35 TPT.

Prayer : Thank you Lord Jesus for dying on the cross to save my soul. I pray that you help go after every your teachings, as to live by them. Give me a heart that loves the brethren, one that forgives easily. I live to please you on Jesus precious name…. Amen 🙏🏿.
