Memory Verse :2 Chronicles 20:23. The Ammonites and the Moabites attacked the Edomite army and completely destroyed it, and then they turned on each other in savage fighting.
Bible Reading : 2 Chronicles 20:20-22 GNB. Key Verse : v21.
Early the next morning the people went out to the wild country near Tekoa. As they were starting out, Jehoshaphat addressed them with these words: “People of Judah and Jerusalem! Put your trust in the Lord your God, and you will stand firm. Believe what his prophets tell you, and you will succeed.” After consulting with the people, the king ordered some musicians to put on the robes they wore on sacred occasions and to march ahead of the army, singing: “Praise the Lord! His love is eternal!” When they began to sing, the Lord threw the invading armies into a panic.
Information came to King Jehosaphat of Judah that a confedration of nations led by the children of Moab and Ammon had encroached on their territory with a massive and intimidating army. Not only that, they had already captured Engedi and was getting set to overrun Judah like a swarm of locusts. “Some time later the armies of Moab and Ammon, together with their allies, the Meunites, invaded Judah. Some messengers came and announced to King Jehoshaphat: “A large army from Edom has come from the other side of the Dead Sea to attack you. They have already captured Hazazon Tamar.” (This is another name for Engedi.)” 2 Chronicles 20:1-2.
King Jehosaphat was terrified because he knew he didn’t have what it takes by any human standards to match these invaders man to man. He therefore resorted to seeking the face of the Lord in fasting and prayer for help. He called for a fast throughout the land of Judah. The people of Judah gathered and called unto the Lord from the depths of their hearts. The king prayed a heartfelt prayer before the people and the Lord responded by words of prophecy from the mouth of Jahazel a Levite. “Jahaziel said, “Your Majesty and all you people of Judah and Jerusalem, the Lord says that you must not be discouraged or be afraid to face this large army. The battle depends on God, not on you. Attack them tomorrow as they come up the pass at Ziz. You will meet them at the end of the valley that leads to the wild country near Jeruel. You will not have to fight this battle. Just take up your positions and wait; you will see the Lord give you victory. People of Judah and Jerusalem, do not hesitate or be afraid. Go out to battle, and the Lord will be with you!”” 2 Chronicles 20:15-17.
The next day according to divine instructions, king Jehosaphat and the people of Judah swept into action. He lined up singers of high praise of the almighty as they went to war God’s own way. They approached the battle following the words from the mouth of the Lord, ignoring every human reasoning. As they sang praises unto the Lord, the Lord went to war on their behalf. The enemies was thrown into confusion as to turn their weapons unto themselves, till the last man standing was no more. Today, we are learning that’s there’s awesome power in praise, even in our days. Because the king and the people of Judah sought the Lord with their hearts, the Lord revealed this praise dimension in spiritual warfare to them. That was all they deployed to triumph over such a great confedration of nations with their well prepared and sophisticated army. One of the most underestimated and underutilised weapons of warfare by believers in our days is praise. As we engage praise as a weapon of warfare this season, the Lord will subdue all our enemies before us. Chronicles 20:24-26.
Prayer :Thank you Father God for teaching me one of your secrets in warfare today. As I praise you this and all my days, let there be trouble and confusion in the camp of my enemies. Fight all my battles, so that I hold my peace in Jesus wonderful name…. Amen 🙏🏿.
Yearly Bible Reading :Acts 16:16-40.
