Topic : Live To Take Correction.

Memory Verse :Jeremiah 7:5. If you change, I will let you go on living here in the land which I gave your ancestors as a permanent possession.

Bible Reading :Jeremiah 7:2-4 GNB. key Verse : v4.

Stop believing those deceitful words, ‘We are safe! This is the Lord’s Temple, this is the Lord’s Temple, this is the Lord’s Temple!’ “Change the way you are living and stop doing the things you are doing. Be fair in your treatment of one another. Stop taking advantage of aliens, orphans, and widows. Stop killing innocent people in this land. Stop worshipping other gods, for that will destroy you.

At this point in time the people of God descended into livestyles that was contrary to the covenant the Lord had with their fathers. God raised Prophet Jeremiah with a message of rebuke and correction. God’s intention was bring them to a place of rethink and repentance, so that they could avoid the impending judgment of God that will always be the portion of the rebellious. From the time of Moses, the Lord made it clear to them that the blessings he was bringing them into was conditional. As long as they honoured and obeyed the Lord, they will enjoy his blessings and dwell in safety, but from the time they rebel against the Lord to walk in disobedience, the Lord will turn against them and allow their enemies to plunder them till they perish. Deuteronomy 28:15-68.

This time the Spirit of God sent Jeremiah to the gate of the temple where everyone came so that they could hear the warnings of the Lord. The intention of the Lord was to bring his people into repentance so that they could avoid the disaster of divine judgement. The Lord didn’t want them to hide under religion to opress the less privileged, be unfaithful and handling the people God committed to their care by taking advantage of the vulnerable where they would have protected their interest. In the days of Jeremiah, people hid under the cover of religion to do things that doesn’t glorify God just like in our days. The worst part of the situation was the fact that they were resistant to people whom God sent to bring them to repentance. “You do these things I hate, and then you come and stand in my presence, in my own Temple, and say, ‘We are safe! Do you think that my Temple is a hiding place for robbers? I have seen what you are doing. Go to Shiloh, the first place where I chose to be worshipped, and see what I did to it because of the sins of my people Israel.” Jeremiah 7:8-10.

Even in our dispensation, we have to learn that the character of God is constant. He is with us while we truly stay with him in obedience. The key to enjoying the fulness of his promises and blessings of God remains in a life of total obedience to his commands. We must serve with reverence, we have to be men who accept to be corrected and who are always willing to repent at the rebuke of the Lord. If the children of Israel had repented at the warnings of Prophet Jeremiah, they would have been forgiven just like the people of Nineveh. “Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness: When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work. Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways: Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.” Psalms 95:8-11 KJV.

Prayer :Thank you Father God because your plan for me is always good as your child. Help me to live and serve with a heart that fear you. Give me a heart that always repent at your rebuke. Thank you for guiding me in the paths of safety and blessing in Jesus precious name….. Amen 🙏🏿.

Yearly Bible Reading : Mathew 25 :1-30.
