Topic : Eternity First.

Memory Verse :Luke 9:26. So why then are you ashamed of being my disciple? Are you ashamed of the revelation-truth I give to you? “I, the Son of Man, will one day return in my radiant brightness, with the holy angels and in the splendor and majesty of my Father, and I will be ashamed of all who are ashamed of me.

Bible Reading : Luke 9:23-25 TPT. Key Verse : v24.

Jesus said to all of his followers, “If you truly desire to be my disciple, you must disown your life completely, embrace my ‘cross’ as your own, and surrender to my ways. For if you choose self-sacrifice, giving up your lives for my glory, you will embark on a discovery of more and more of true life. But if you choose to keep your lives for yourselves, you will lose what you try to keep. Even if you gained all the wealth and power of this world, everything it could offer you, yet lost your soul in the process, what good is that?

Jesus had earlier told his disciples how he will be rejected even by the rulers of his days and put to death, but will resurrect on the 3rd day. Haven said that, he began to let them know that not all men would be able to follow him because of the attendant demands. He was able to spell out some conditions anyone who decides to follow him in his/her lifetime must meet as to be a true follower or disciple. The first condition is to abandon their personal pursuits as individuals, to pursue things Jesus himself desires. This is all about living the rest of our lives only to please him and not ourselves. This type of life is focused on Jesus himself and what gives him pleasure and not centered on giving ourselves the best of every second we have to live.

Another step following Jesus daily demands from a man is the fact that he has to embrace the cross of Christ as being his own. This is all about partnership in burden, labour and kingdom assignment. That is all about self sacrifice which has to do with giving up some things that are necessary, but not expedient. “All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body. And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.” 1 Corinthians 6:12-14 KJV. This means that whatever that doesn’t have eternal value shouldn’t be a priority in the life for a follower of Christ.

Today, we have to decide to go out full blast for the one who loved us to the point of giving himself up his lufe for our redemption. The way God himself could not leave any stone unturned or spare anything to make sure we get saved including giving up his son, we are expected to reciprocate by throwing ourselves and everything possible into his service out of love and appreciation for what he did for us. “So no wonder we don’t give up. For even though our outer person gradually wears out, our inner being is renewed every single day. We view our slight, short-lived troubles in the light of eternity. We see our difficulties as the substance that produces for us an eternal, weighty glory far beyond all comparison, because we don’t focus our attention on what is seen but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but the unseen realm is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:16-18.

Prayer :Thank you Father God for the love that made you give up your son to save my soul. Help me to appreciate your sacrifice adequately by giving up my own life to life to please him who died to give me a glorious future in you in Jesus precious name….. Amen 🙏🏿.

Yearly Bible Reading : Mathew 21:28-46.
