Topic :Avoid Complaining.

Memory Verse: 1 Corinthians 10:10. We must not complain, as some of them did — and they were destroyed by the Angel of Death.

Bible Reading :Exodus 15:23-25 GNB. Key Verse: v23.

Then they came to a place called Marah, but the water there was so bitter that they could not drink it. That is why it was named Marah. The people complained to Moses and asked, “What are we going to drink?” Moses prayed earnestly to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a piece of wood, which he threw into the water; and the water became fit to drink. There the Lord gave them laws to live by, and there he also tested them.

The people of Israel saw the mighty hand of God work wonders while they were in Egypt. Pharaoh never wanted them to leave, so that they could serve the Lord their God. Because Pharaoh was hardened and refused to listen to Moses, God did many signs and wonders for their sake to prove his power in Egypt. Finally he had to kill every first born of human and animals in Egypt because they held on to his own first born among the nations. When they finally released the people od God and they began to leave Egypt, Pharaoh still went after them, intending to recapture and return them to bondage and slavery, against the will of God. Finally God silenced them in the red sea where he parted the red sea for the people of Israel to pass through as on dry land. Pharaoh and the Egyptian army tried to follow them through the sea as to recapture them, but the Lord silenced them, as they all drowned and perished. Miriam on seeing the mighty acts of God led them to sing praises and to rejoice before the Lord for his mighty deliverance.

Now, the children of Israel were still fresh from celebration of their glorious victory at the red sea and destruction of their enemies when they became thirsty and the water they met on the way wasn’t drinkable, but bitter. The people of Israel easily forgot all the wonders of the Lord in the land of Egypt and the fresh parting of the sea and final victory over Pharaoh and his elite army, and began to complain against God and Moses their leader. Their attitude anytime they encountered challenges in the course of their journey was always irritative, they easily forgot the goodness of the Lord and his commitment to their well being. At a point, they were even contemplaring appointing themselves another leader and returning to Egypt because they see divine process as too slow for their liking.

Today, we have to learn that when men journey with God, they always encounter challenges like every other person or people. When challenges comes our way, there are dimensions of God the Lord intends to reveal to us. Challenging times therefore are not times to complain or get offended with the Lord. Rather, they are times of deep lessons and maturity. We grow by learning from the things we pass through in our walk with the Lord. We therefore have to resist the temptation of complaining and getting offended with the master or people he placed as leaders over us. Trying times rather should be waiting times so that our strength could be renewed in a manner that we grow wings under the influence of the Holy Spirit and begin to soar higher and above the challenges that comes our way. “He strengthens those who are weak and tired. Even those who are young grow weak; young people can fall exhausted. But those who trust in the Lord for help will find their strength renewed. They will rise on wings like eagles; they will run and not get weary; they will walk and not grow weak.” Isaiah 40:29-31.

Prayer :Thank you Father God for challenges you allow to come my way to help mature me in you. As I wait on you this season in the place of prayer, let every obstacles on my way become stepping stones to greater heights. Grant me wings by your Spirit to saor above every challenges that comes my way, in victory in Jesus wonderful name….. Amen 🙏🏿.

Yearly Bible Reading : Genesis 43:1-34.
