Topic :God Will Open Doors Of Favour And Restoration

Memory Verse:Nehemiah 2’4. The emperor asked, “What is it that you want?”I prayed to the God of Heaven,

Bible Reading : ‭Nehemiah 2:1-3 GNB. Key Verse: v3.

One day four months later, when Emperor Artaxerxes was dining, I took the wine to him. He had never seen me look sad before, so he asked, “Why are you looking so sad? You aren’t ill, so it must be that you’re unhappy.”I was startled and answered, “May Your Majesty live for ever! How can I help looking sad

when the city where my ancestors are buried is in ruins and its gates have been destroyed by fire?”

Nehemiah was a cupbearer to the king in the land of captivity. This time Jerusalem fell into the hands of their enemies because of their sins and many was taken away captive to serves as slaves in foreign lands. While working in the palace in Babylon, Hanani who was a brother came back from home and Nehemiah tried to find out what was going on with the people that remained in Judah and Jerusalem. He learnt from him that the people who survived the wars and destruction were in jeopardy and that Jerusalem was lying in ruins and decay. That news broke his righteous heart and he began to fast and pray, repenting before the Lord of the sins of his people and asking the Lord to intervene, reminding God of his covenant with their fathers. “Remember now what you told Moses: ‘If you people of Israel are unfaithful to me, I will scatter you among the other nations. But then if you turn back to me and do what I have commanded you, I will bring you back to the place where I have chosen to be worshipped, even though you are scattered to the ends of the earth.’ “Lord, these are your servants, your own people. You rescued them by your great power and strength.” Nehemiah 1:8-10.

In answer, God touched the heart of the king on his behalf. This time the king wasn’t only interested in having his drinks, but also in the comfort and well being of his servant Nehemiah. He found out from his facial expressions that something was wrong and pressed to find out what it was all about. “One day four months later, when Emperor Artaxerxes was dining, I took the wine to him. He had never seen me look sad before, so he asked, “Why are you looking so sad? You aren’t ill, so it must be that you’re unhappy.”I was startled and answered, “May Your Majesty live for ever! How can I help looking sad when the city where my ancestors are buried is in ruins and its gates have been destroyed by fire?”” Nehemiah 2:1-3.

Because Nehemiah prayed the right prayers, God caused the king to be intereted in his happiness. When Nehemiah stated the reason for which he was sad, the king was all out to make sure whatever he wanted was done to restore his joy. Right there, God opened a door of favour for his servant Nehemiah which led to the rebuilding of Jerusalem as Nehemiah requested before the King. Nehemiah demanded to be released from his duty before the king, so that he could lead his people to rebuild Jerusalem. “Then I asked him to grant me the favour of giving me letters to the governors of West Euphrates Province, instructing them to let me travel to Judah. I asked also for a letter to Asaph, keeper of the royal forests, instructing him to supply me with timber for the gates of the fort that guards the Temple, for the city walls, and for the house I was to live in. The emperor gave me all I asked for, because God was with me. The emperor sent some army officers and a troop of horsemen with me, and I made the journey to West Euphrates. There I gave the emperor’s letters to the governors.” Nehemiah 2:7-9. This season, as we wait on the Lord with a genuine heart and in repentance, the Lord will open doors of favour and restoration unto you and your people.

Prayer :Thank you Father God because you are the God that answers prayers. This day, as I wait in prayer and with a repentant heart, let every doors of favour and restoration that was shut before now begin to open for me and my people in Jesus wonderful name…. Amen 🙏🏿.
