Topic :He Came On A Mission.
Memory Verse : Luke 15:7. In the same way, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over 99 respectable people who do not need to repent.
Bible Reading :Luke 15:4:-6 GNB. Key Verse : v4.
“Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them — what do you do? You leave the other 99 sheep in the pasture and go looking for the one that got lost until you find it. When you find it, you are so happy that you put it on your shoulders and carry it back home. Then you call your friends and neighbours together and say to them, ‘I am so happy I found my lost sheep. Let us celebrate!’
Jesus used parables to drive home important teachings. At this point in time, he was relating and associating with all manner of people without discrimination, including those perceived by people of his days as the worst sinners around, like tax collectors. The Pharisees and teachers of the law of those days found fault in the way he was free with all class of people whom they felt he should have avoided. Jesus knowing their thoughts told them the parable of the lost sheep to help them understand his mission or interest as it affects his association with men. God is so careful about man as to number the hairs on our individual heads. ““What is the value of your soul to God? Could your worth be defined by an amount of money? God doesn’t abandon or forget even the small sparrow he has made. How then could he forget or abandon you? What about the seemingly minor issues of your life? Do they matter to God? Of course they do! So you never need to worry, for you are more valuable to God than anything else in this world.”” Luke 12:6-7 TPT.
Jesus was trying to let them understand the value God placed on every single soul he created on earth. Men who are sinners are lost before God and because it is not God’s will that anyone should perish, he goes an extra mile to pay any possible price to get them saved or back to his fold, which includes coming down to their level in order to win them back to himself by showing them much love and sincere care. “As Moses lifted up the bronze snake on a pole in the desert, in the same way the Son of Man must be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to be its judge, but to be its saviour.” John 3:14-17.
As we get busy trying to get things ready to celebrate the birth of the most important man that walked the surface of the earth, we must not forget the reason for which he was born. He is God’s gift of love to mankind. The story of his love and commitment to the salvation of men has to be told repeatedly till every living soul on earth understands they need him in their lives. “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” Matthew 1:21-23 KJV.
Prayer :Thank you Father God for you plan of redemption that made you send Jesus to the earth for my sake. Help me to take advantage of his sincere love and humility. Help me to share this love with others till I meet you in victory in Jesus wonderful name….. 🙏🏿.
Yearly Bible Reading : James 3:1-12.
