Topic :Standing In Difficult Times.
Memory Verse :Job 13:15. Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him; I will surely defend my ways to his face.
Bible Reading : Job 13:3-5 NIV. Key Verse : v3.
But I desire to speak to the Almighty and to argue my case with God. You, however, smear me with lies; you are worthless physicians, all of you! If only you would be altogether silent! For you, that would be wisdom.
We live in a world where we encounter challenges of various degrees, some tougher than others. One thing God desires is to build us up as his children to weather through storms and overcome challenges when they come our way. Some challenges comes our way because of wrong decisions we make in the course of life, sometimes out of inadequate knowledge or outright ignorance, Hosea 4:6. We can also encounter challenges when we disobey the commands of the Lord as contained in his word, Ecclesiastes 10:8. Some challenges comes as tests of life or trial of faith that leads to kingdom promotion or elavation before the Lord. Job’s predicament can be classified among trial of faith, as we can see in chapter one that he committed no sin that will attract some punishment before the Lord.
Truth is that our human nature hates challenges or things that makes life difficult. We do our best most time to avoid them wherever we can. When brother Job was going through his unprecedented trial, he lost all the substance (investments) of life that made him the richest in the east in his time including his children in a day. As if that wasn’t enough, Satan went ahead to afflict his body with sickness. He was an eyesore to even his wife and friends. His friends in trying to help could not really help matters, they didn’t understand what was happening to their friend as they kept suspecting and accusing him of things he wasn’t guilty of. In all this, Job was calm and calculated enough to take his case to God, since men wouldn’t believe him anymore. He trusted in divine justice and deliverance till his faith paid off.
Today, I want us to look at brother Job again and pick some lessons from his resilience. The first lesson I want us to pick is the understanding of God’s faithfulness in every situation. Because of that, we can’t be tired of approaching him for help, anytime we seemed overwhelmed. Secondly, there will always be a time to shut men out so that you can sort things out with your creator because they won’t really understand you like himself. ““Keep silent and let me speak; then let come to me what may. Why do I put myself in jeopardy and take my life in my hands? Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him; I will surely defend my ways to his face. Indeed, this will turn out for my deliverance, for no godless person would dare come before him!” Job 13:13-16 NIV. See also Luke 18:1-8, Hebrews 4:14-16.
Prayer :Thank you Father God because you are always faithful in every generation and situation. Today, build me up to weather through storms and overcome challenges. Let nothing take me away from your presence, rather let me always run to you and receive anytime I need help in Jesus precious name…. Amen 🙏🏿.
Yearly Bible Reading : Acts 28:15-31.
