and said, ‘Don’t be afraid, Paul. You are destined to stand trial before Caesar. And because of God’s favor on you, he has given you the lives of everyone who is sailing with you.’ So men, keep up your courage! I know that God will protect you, just as he told me he would. But we must run aground on some island to be saved.”
Apostle Paul’s was arrested in Jerusalem as prophesied by Agabus for the sake of the gospel. Now when he stood before king Agrippa in defence of the testimony of Jesus he bore, he appealed to Ceaser as a Roman citizen while defending the message of the cross he carried before the king with other of his cabinet members in attendance and the people. “Agrippa said to Paul, “In this short time do you think you will make me a Christian?” “Whether a short time or a long time,” Paul answered, “my prayer to God is that you and all the rest of you who are listening to me today might become what I am — except, of course, for these chains!” Then the king, the governor, Bernice, and all the others got up, and after leaving they said to each other, “This man has not done anything for which he should die or be put in prison.” And Agrippa said to Festus, “This man could have been released if he had not appealed to the Emperor.”” Acts 26:28-31 GNB.
Now the journey to Rome wasn’t smooth. After they boarded a connecting Egyptian ship going to Rome at Alenxandria the journey wasn’t cumbersome. At a point, Paul by the Spirit of God counseled that they delayed the journey, but the owners of the ship and sailors refused to listened and continued the voyage to the risk of their lives. The journey became hopeless and the sailors was planning to abandon them and escape using available resources, but Paul warned them against that because their safety was only gurranteed in their remaining in the hopeless ship. Now that was because the stability and protection they enjoyed in the journey despite storms, tempest and contrary winds they encountered, was because God had a stake in their journey as a result of the presence of Apostle Paul who was there among them as a divine messenger. This time they began to listen to him knowing their safety was tied his voice. “For last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I worship came to me and said, ‘Don’t be afraid, Paul! You must stand before the Emperor. And God in his goodness to you has spared the lives of all those who are sailing with you.’” Acts 27:23-24..
Finally, as they followed the leading of Apostle Paul, they were able to secure their lives, though they lost their belongings as he rightly told them. “Just before daybreak, Paul urged everyone to eat. He said, “Today makes two full weeks that you’ve been in fearful peril and hunger, unable to eat a thing. Now eat and be nourished. For you’ll all come through this ordeal without a scratch.” Then Paul took bread and gave thanks to God in front of them, broke it and began to eat. There were 276 people who ate until they were filled, and were strengthened and encouraged.” Acts 27:33-36. They finally landed in Malta. We must learn here today the importance of living a covenant life and carrying his presence in our lifetime. That was, the secret of Apostle Paul. Again, walking in God’s plan makes a man a force to reckon with here on earth. God was with Paul to secure that which he committed to his care in the kingdom.
Prayer :Thank you Lord Jesus for redeeming me with your blood, so that I live to serve you the rest of my life. Thank you Lord because I live a covenant life before you. Therefore, you will secure me, my loved ones and men around me for my sake. Thank you for watching over me always to help me fulfill my destiny in you forever in Jesus mighty name…. Amen 🙏🏿.
