ENTHRONEMENT ASSEMBLY DAILY DEVOTIONALS.

Wednesday October 23rd, 2024.

Topic : Praying Through.

Memory Verse : 1 Samuel 2:4. The bows of strong soldiers are broken, but the weak grow strong.

Bible Reading : 1 Samuel 2:1-3 GNB. Key Verse: v2.

Hannah prayed: “The Lord has filled my heart with joy; how happy I am because of what he has done! I laugh at my enemies; how joyful I am because God has helped me! “No one is holy like the Lord; there is none like him, no protector like our God. Stop your loud boasting; silence your proud words. For the Lord is a God who knows, and he judges all that people do.

Hannah was in a very difficult situation. She had no child in her marriage, but Peninnah who was the second wife to her husband Elkanah had children. Her husband loved her and cared much for her, but Peninnah made life very unbearable for her in the marriage through excessive mockery and taunting as a result of her having no child in her marriage. When she could not bear the troublesomeness of Peninnah, she decided to run to God Almighty who has capacity to do all things for help. “Peninnah, her rival, would torment and humiliate her, because the Lord had kept her childless. This went on year after year; whenever they went to the house of the Lord, Peninnah would upset Hannah so much that she would cry and refuse to eat anything. Her husband Elkanah would ask her, “Hannah, why are you crying? Why won’t you eat? Why are you always so sad? Don’t I mean more to you than ten sons?”” 1 Samuel 1:6-8.

Hanah finally made a wise decision by taking her worrisome situation to God in prayer, when they made a visit to the house of God in shiloh for their Yearly sacrifice and to worship. At shiloh, she stayed back when others left to seek the face of the Lord. There, she poured her broken heart out before the Lord God Almighty. Eli the priest saw her and spoke a word of agreement into her life. She went home with her miracle. Her next visit to Shiloh was to pay her vows with thanksgiving. “Hannah made a solemn promise: “Almighty Lord, look at me, your servant! See my trouble and remember me! Don’t forget me! If you give me a son, I promise that I will dedicate him to you for his whole life and that he will never have his hair cut.” Hannah continued to pray to the Lord for a long time, and Eli watched her lips. She was praying silently; her lips were moving, but she made no sound. So Eli thought that she was drunk,” 1 Samuel 1:10-12.

Now sister Hannah returned to give glory to God for granting her heart desires. She was full praise to the Lord for his mighty and timely intervention. Today we have to learn to seek God till we find him from the life and testimony of sister Hannah. Jesus taught us that we have to pray and not give up till God answers us in Luke 181-8 with the parable of the widow and the Judge that has no regard for God, not to talk of men. Yet because of the persistence of the helpless widow, the judge was forced to meet her need, so that he could have some respite. Many people today are lazy in prayer, they are looking for some alternatives to prayer where there is none. Such group of people becomes easy prey in the hands of fake people who seem to offer what they are looking for. Today we must forget that persistence is key to praying through in any given situation.

Prayer : Thank you Father God because no man seeks you in vain. Thank you because you are the God of answers. Help me to learn to be consistent in my prayers to you. Thank you for turning my travails to testimonies in Jesus wonderful name…. Amen 🙏🏿.

Yearly Bible Reading : Acts 10:1-23.
