Memory Verse : 2 Kings 6:18. When the Syrians attacked, Elisha prayed, “O Lord, strike these men blind!” The Lord answered his prayer and struck them blind.
Bible Reading :2 Kings 6:14-16 GNB. Key Verse: v16.
he sent a large force there with horses and chariots. They reached the town at night and surrounded it. Early the next morning Elisha’s servant got up, went out of the house, and saw the Syrian troops with their horses and chariots surrounding the town. He went back to Elisha and exclaimed, “We are doomed, sir! What shall we do?” “Don’t be afraid,” Elisha answered. “We have more on our side than they have on theirs.”
This time around the king of Syria was at war with the people of Samaria. Now, as the king of Syria make consultations and drew war strategies with his leaders, the Spirit of the Lord was revealing his plans made in the secret to Elisha the Prophet who in turn communicated same to the king for appropriate steps to counter him. Even when they tried to lay ambush, the Spirit will give details including where to pass and where not to. In his frustration, the king of Syria had to call an emergency meeting to know who was leaking their intelligence, only to find out from one of his men that Prophet Elisha was the one tapping into the secrets of his camp through the channels of heaven and revealing same to king of Samaria at no cost. He then made findings to know where this Prophet was living. When he found out, he sent his heavily armed soldiers to Dothan to capture and bring the man of God. Very early in the morning the Syrian soldiers arrived and sorounded the entire city intending to capture Elisha. When they woke early the next morning, his servant saw the heavily armed soldiers sorrounding the city and began to panic.
Elisha the man of God on his side was calm and calculated, knowing that they had what it takes to take care of the enemy who was on rampage against the inheritance of God. He had already seen mighty angels on assignment on their behalf, whom the enemy was not a match for by any standard, even in strength. All he did to restore the confidence and composure of his servant was to ask the Lord to open the eyes of his servant to understand the real situation on ground. ““Don’t be afraid,” Elisha answered. “We have more on our side than they have on theirs.” Then he prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes and let him see!” The Lord answered his prayer, and Elisha’s servant looked up and saw the hillside covered with horses and chariots of fire all round Elisha. When the Syrians attacked, Elisha prayed, “O Lord, strike these men blind!” The Lord answered his prayer and struck them blind.” 2 Kings 6:16-18.
Today we have to learn that no one walking with God gets stranded in life. One of the reasons convenant people fear and sometimes look stranded, confused and not knowing what to do in any given situation, is because our eyes of understanding are not open to divine provisions. Understanding helps us take advantage of what God has already provided. The faithfulness of God is so strong that in every challenges we encounter, there are resources heaven makes available to us to meet our needs. Today wherever we looked confused and afraid, we are to go to the Lord and ask him to open our eyes of understanding to solutions from his presence already made available which might not always be on the surface. All Elisha did was to take charge of the situation, using divine provision. “When the Syrians attacked, Elisha prayed, “O Lord, strike these men blind!” The Lord answered his prayer and struck them blind. Then Elisha went to them and said, “You are on the wrong road; this is not the town you are looking for. Follow me, and I will lead you to the man you are after.” And he led them to Samaria.” 2 Kings 6:18-19.
Prayer : Thank you Father God for being faithful in every situation. Thank you because for every challenge that comes my way, there are enough provision from your presence to ensure my victory. Open my eyes these days to every provision you have made available to ensure my victory in Jesus wonderful name….. Amen 🙏🏿.
Yearly Bible Reading : Acts 7:30-60.
