Topic : Building Spiritual Stamina.
Memory Verse : Romans 8:10. Now Christ lives his life in you! And even though your body may be dead because of the effects of sin, his life-giving Spirit imparts life to you because you are fully accepted by God.
Bible Reading :Romans 8:7-9 TPT. Key Verse : v9.
In fact, the mind-set focused on the flesh fights God’s plan and refuses to submit to his direction, because it cannot! For no matter how hard they try, God finds no pleasure with those who are controlled by the flesh. But when the Spirit of Christ empowers your life, you are not dominated by the flesh but by the Spirit. And if you are not joined to the Spirit of the Anointed One, you are not of him.
One of the challenges of the Church of Jesus Christ today is that many people inside our churches today are less concerned about their spirit man and the kind of life that helps builds them up in God by the Spirit of the anointed one. The after effect is massive spiritual weakness manifested in the lives of individuals. Things are that way because our focus has shifted from things to build up men before God by helping them walk with God in their personal lives. The foundation of a life in the Spirit is cultivating a relationship. Like a physical relationship, spiritual relationships are cultivated too by investment of time and resources. ““Don’t keep hoarding for yourselves earthly treasures that can be stolen by thieves. Material wealth eventually rusts, decays, and loses its value. Instead, stockpile heavenly treasures for yourselves that cannot be stolen and will never rust, decay, or lose their value. For your heart will always pursue what you value as your treasure.” Matthew 6:19-21.
One of the things God is still seeking in in our days more desperately than ever before are the people whom Jesus called true worshippers. “From here on, worshiping the Father will not be a matter of the right place but with the right heart. For God is a Spirit, and he longs to have sincere worshipers who worship and adore him in the realm of the Spirit and in truth.”” John 4:23. These are men with a hunger for God, men that enjoy being with him always, men that seeks to know those things that strengthens their relationship with God as to pursue such things vigorously. God always has a way of responding to our the hunger or cravings of our hearts or inner man. He doesn’t force things we don’t desire on us. “How enriched you are when you crave righteousness! For you will be surrounded with fruitfulness.” Matthew 5:6.
Today we need to have a second look at our priorities in our relationship with God. We need to appraise or check to know the things that our hearts are craving for most. They are pointers to where we are going because they are bound to regulate our activities and daily choices or preferences. We must not allow our flesh to have an upper hand in our lives as to control things we do and how we respond to God himself. No man living to please himself or the flesh can serve God genuinely. What we prefer as men will always clash with things God himself will always demand from us. When we voluntarily submit to the Spirit of the Lord, he can then empower us by the life he imparts or deposits in us to overcome the flesh and it’s desires that runs down our spiritual batteries. “So then, beloved ones, the flesh has no claims on us at all, and we have no further obligation to live in obedience to it. For when you live controlled by the flesh, you are about to die. But if the life of the Spirit puts to death the corrupt ways of the flesh, we then taste his abundant life.” Romans 8:12-13.
Prayer :Thank you Lord Jesus for giving me your Spirit to live by. Help me to pay attention to things that will help build me up in you by the help of your Spirit residing in me. Thank because the flesh and it’s desires will never rule my life in Jesus wonderful name…. Amen 🙏🏿.
Yearly Bible Reading : Luke 24:13-43.
