Memory Verse : Matthew 5:4. “What delight comes to you when you wait upon the Lord! For you will find what you long for.
Bible Reading : Matthew 5:1-3 TPT. Key Verse: v3.
One day Jesus saw a vast crowd of people gathering to hear him, so he went up the slope of a hill and sat down. With his followers and disciples spread over the hillside, Jesus began to teach them: “What wealth is offered to you when you feel your spiritual poverty! For there is no charge to enter the realm of heaven’s kingdom.
The earthly ministry of our Lord Jesus was filled with God’s power and glory. Because his ministry provided solution the the problem of men, especially believers, answers to their questions and clarity where they were confused, people followed him anywhere he went. Sometimes even when he separates himself to lonely places to rest or pray, they will always try to find him out in their numbers. This time he was a mountainous area when the people located him in their numbers and he climbed some height and sat down to teach new rules of life that help them serve God better and enjoy his benefits. “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;” Psalms 103:2-4. KJV.
One of the things Jesus taught here is the importance of coming to him with a feeling of emptiness, poverty of the mind or spirit, so that he can fill us with his knowledge and wisdom. When we are full of ourselves and what we think we know, there will be no space for him to fill. But anytime we come to him with teachable mindsets, we are always be open to receive his knowledge and wisdom in regards to the way we ought to live our lives to be a blessing to ourselves and all that come across our way in life. The wisdom Christ impart s by his Spirit equips men to accomplish the purpose of God for our existence. “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.” Proverbs 3:5-8 KJV.
The second thing Jesus taught us here is that there is great blessing in waiting upon the Lord. Anytime we pray and seem not get the result we desire as soon as we desire them, it is time to wait on him. Waiting on him has to with patience. Waiting is a demonstration of trust and confidence in him and his timing. In our waiting time, we learn things we didn’t know in the past as we explore the depths of God for more intimacy with him. This works experience and maturity in the believer which makes us more resourceful in the kingdom. When we wait, we are always sure of divine result at the end. “Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.” Hebrews 10:35-36.
Prayer :Thank you Lord Jesus for imparting me with your wisdom through your word. Help me to always come before you with a teachable heart. As I wait on you, let there be solution to every difficult case in Jesus wonderful name…. Amen 🙏🏿.
Yearly Bible Reading : Luke 23:1-12.
