Memory Verse :Numbers 13:30. Caleb interrupted, called for silence before Moses and said, “Let’s go up and take the land—now. We can do it.”
Bible Reading :Numbers 13:26-28 MSG. Key Verse : v30.
They presented themselves before Moses and Aaron and the whole congregation of the People of Israel in the Wilderness of Paran at Kadesh. They reported to the whole congregation and showed them the fruit of the land. Then they told the story of their trip:”We went to the land to which you sent us and, oh! It does flow with milk and honey! Just look at this fruit! The only thing is that the people who live there are fierce, their cities are huge and well fortified. Worse yet, we saw descendants of the giant Anak.
This time in history, the people of Israel were about to conquer and possess the land of Canaan. In obedience to divine instructions, Moses sent spies to survey the land in preparation for the battle that will make them posses the land in real terms. Out of each of the twelve tribes of Israel, twelve men was chosen to undertake the journey or carry out this assignment. When they came back from spying on the land after about forty days, ten men out of twelve had unbelief. They were intimidated by the size and appearance of their enemies as forget their God. “But the others said, “We can’t attack those people; they’re way stronger than we are.” They spread scary rumors among the People of Israel. They said, “We scouted out the land from one end to the other—it’s a land that swallows people whole. Everybody we saw was huge. Why, we even saw the Nephilim giants (the Anak giants come from the Nephilim). Alongside them we felt like grasshoppers. And they looked down on us as if we were grasshoppers.” Numbers 13:31-33.
The problem with these ten men of negative report is that they lacked faith. They were focused on the enemies, their strength and all they stood for and paid less or even no attention to their mighty God and what he could do. These men were quick to forget the power of the Lord who brought them out of Egypt against every resistance that Pharaoh put up. They forgot God’s presence that followed them through their journey to the point where they were and his mighty acts as revealed to them in the course of their journey through the wilderness. They looked down on their God and not themselves because the journey including the battles was mainly about their God and his commitment to establish his good plan for their lives which no man, people, kingdom or spirit(s) had capacity to truncate. Now, hear thi… “The sons of Aaron, the priests, are to blow the trumpets. This is to be a lasting ordinance for you and the generations to come. When you go into battle in your own land against an enemy who is oppressing you, sound a blast on the trumpets. Then you will be remembered by the Lord your God and rescued from your enemies. Also at your times of rejoicing—your appointed festivals and New Moon feasts—you are to sound the trumpets over your burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, and they will be a memorial for you before your God. I am the Lord your God.”
Numbers 10:8-10 NIV.
The Bible recorded that Caleb and Joshua had a different spirit. While majority of their colleagues was captured by the spirit of fear, themselves stood out in faith in their God and what they know he could and had already seen him do from Egypt to the red sea and all the nations that came against them, which none of them could stand against them and their God. A holy anger arose in him as he listened to his fellow country men. He had to stop them to avert the anger of God because faithlessness means looking down on God who had been with them. He declared that they had what it takes to conquer and possess the land the Lord had vowed to give unto them and their children for an inheritance. Today what is God telling you or what did he tell you about yourself before now? Do you believe God to fulfil his promises in your life or are looking at the size and intensity of the opposition? Remember that the blesings of the Lord comes in promises and only those who can believe and run with the promises of God can possess them. “Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.” Mark 9:23 KJV.
Prayer : Thank you Father God because you are a promise keeper. Forgive me Lord in anyway I doubted you in the past to delay what you want to do in my life. From today, I fix my eyes on you and thank you because with you, nothing good shall be impossible in my life in Jesus wonderful name…. Amen 🙏🏿.
