ENTHRONEMENT ASSEMBLY DAILY DEVOTIONALS.
Sunday March 24th, 2024.
Topic : Blessed To Serve.
Memoru Verse : Joshua 24:16. Then the people answered, “Far be it from us to forsake the Lord to serve other gods!
Bible Reading :Joshua 24:14-15 NIV. Key Verse : v14.
“Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
When God rescued the people of Israel from a life of rigorous servitude in hands of Pharaoh of Egypt, he had a plan at herart. He delivered them from the hands of their oppressors so that they could serve God the way he desire without any encumberances. In real life, liberty or freedom without a purpose can be dangerous because it can always be subject to abuse. “God said to Moses, “Get up early in the morning and confront Pharaoh. Tell him, ‘God, the God of the Hebrews, says: Release my people so they can worship me.” Exodus 9:13 MSG Several times in Exodus God told Pharaoh by the mouth of Moses his messenger to release God’s people so that they could go to the wilderness and worship or serve their God and him alone. Before they left Egypt, God granted them favour, so that they left with blessing as to be empowered for quality service. “And I will make the Egyptians favorably disposed toward this people, so that when you leave you will not go empty-handed. Every woman is to ask her neighbor and any woman living in her house for articles of silver and gold and for clothing, which you will put on your sons and daughters. And so you will plunder the Egyptians.”
Exodus 3:21-22.
The Blessing he gave them when they were leaving Egypt was for them to have substance to use and serve or worship their God. Before Joshua went to be with the Lord at the completion of his assignment, he reminded the people of God how gracious and good the Lord has been to them, challenging them with himself and family not to forsake rendering worship or service to the God who delivered them from the hands pf pharoah and other enemies that came their way, till he caused then to inherit the land of promise. “’I brought you to the land of the Amorites who lived east of the Jordan. They fought against you, but I gave them into your hands. I destroyed them from before you, and you took possession of their land. I sent the hornet ahead of you, which drove them out before you—also the two Amorite kings. You did not do it with your own sword and bow. So I gave you a land on which you did not toil and cities you did not build; and you live in them and eat from vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant.’” Joshua 24:8,12-13.
Even today we need to understand that every good things of life from the Lord is to help us be comfortable enough aa to give God the best of our worship or service. Let’s not be among those that get carried away after God has fought many battles, blessed and established them, when they surposed to be more useful, they face other things that can take them nowhere after this temporary life forgetting the God that raised them. “Who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end; And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth. But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.” Deuteronomy 8:16-18 KJV.
Prayer :Thank you Father God because it is you that raise men. I ask that you always keep me on track with you by the help of your Spirit. After you have settled and made me comfortable, may I not take you for granted or depart from your way in Jesus precious name….. Amen 🙏🏿.
Yearly Bible Reading : 1 Samuel 10:1-27.
