Memory Verse :1 Peter 5:9. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
Bible Reading :1 Peter 5:6-8 NIV. Key Verse : v8.
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
Here we have Apostle Peter full of the wisdom of God which was a product of years of being with Christ in the flesh as well as leading the early Church after his resurrection and ascension. He wants us to understand that challenges are normal occurances when we walk with the Lord. Therefore he taught us how best to handle such situations when they arise as to get best results. Some experience God allow us to have are meant to prepare us to be able to teach men coming behind us. “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-5.
One virtue that will be very helpful when we go through challenges is humility. Difficult situations sometimes are meant to bring us to breaking point, especially when we assume that we didn’t need any help. By the the time we discover our limitations and helplessness, we will see the need to involve God. Now, we need to understand that sufferings comes because we are being tested for higher blessings as children of God most time. That is when the accuser of the brethren obtains some form of permission from God’s presence to place obstacles on our way just like he did in the case of Job. ”“Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. But now stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face.” The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.” Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.” Job 1:10-12.
We have to understand also that we have what it takes to resist the enemy and stop him from having his way in anything that concerns us before the Lord when we are submitted to his authority, so that our lifting can become a reality and st his own timing. Again, we need to know that God allow us to share in the sufferings of Christ, so that we qualify to be partakers of his glory. The level of glory every believer commands in life is always determined by the price he id able to pay. “Since we are his children, we will possess the blessings he keeps for his people, and we will also possess with Christ what God has kept for him; for if we share Christ’s suffering, we will also share his glory. I consider that what we suffer at this present time cannot be compared at all with the glory that is going to be revealed to us.” Romans 8:17-18 GNB. Anytime God is involved, he always makes strength available that carries us through to the point of comfort, recovery and establishment.
Prayer: Thank you Lord Jesus for bringing me into a life of union with the Godhead by your sacrifice. Thank you because you have appointed me to share in your eternal glory as a member of the family of God. Whenever my faith in you is tested help me to always come out victorious, so that I keep climbing the heights of glory till everlasting victory in Jesus wonderful name….. Amen 🙏🏿.
