Bible Reading : Exodus 14:13-15 GNB. Key Verse : v13.
Moses answered, “Don’t be afraid! Stand your ground, and you will see what the Lord will do to save you today; you will never see these Egyptians again. The Lord will fight for you, and there is no need for you to do anything.” The Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out for help? Tell the people to move forward.
This time the children of Israel had just left Egypt by the mighty hand of God. Egypt was a place of bondage and rigorous servitude. In the midst of the excruciating suffering they went through, they cried unto God of their father Abraham who in response raised and sent Moses to deliver them out of Egypt and the house of bondage, so that they can have the time to serve their God. “and so I have come down to rescue them from the Egyptians and to bring them out of Egypt to a spacious land, one which is rich and fertile and in which the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites now live. I have indeed heard the cry of my people, and I see how the Egyptians are oppressing them. Now I am sending you to the king of Egypt so that you can lead my people out of his country.”” Exodus 3:8-10.
It was not child’s play when Moses landed in Egypt with this mandate under his belt. Pharaoh and the Egyptians had no intention to let the children of Israel go. But the Lord was with Moses where did great and mighty things through him to back up the efforts of Moses before adamant Pharaoh. The more Pharaoh withdrew from his commitment to let the people of God be free, the more the Lord manifested his power to punish Pharaoh and the Egyptians, who was hardened against God in arrogant pride. Finally, God had no choice, but to kill all the first born first born in Egypt (men and animals). “At midnight the Lord killed all the firstborn sons in Egypt, from the king’s son, who was heir to the throne, to the son of the prisoner in the dungeon; all the firstborn of the animals were also killed. That night, the king, his officials, and all the other Egyptians were awakened. There was loud crying throughout Egypt, because there was not one home in which there was not a dead son. That same night the king sent for Moses and Aaron and said, “Get out, you and your Israelites! Leave my country; go and worship the Lord, as you asked.” Exodus 12:28-30.
At the death of every first born, Pharaoh was forced to release God’s people in a haste and unconditionally. But after the children of Israel left Pharaoh changed his mind and decided to go after the seemingly helpless children of Israel. Finally he went after them with his army. When Moses called on God, all God did was to give him an instruction that became the game changer. God told him to stretch his rod over the sea. As he did so, the sea parted on it’s own accord for the people of God to pass through like dry land. I want us to pick some lessons from the deliverance of the people of God here. The first thing to learn here is that God’s presence in any place or assignment doesn’t eliminate challenges, but gurrantees our victory. Secondly, anytime you are facing things you can’t handle with your human senses, learn to fall back on God for fresh instructions that will open the doors of his intervention. Thirdly, we must understand that before the Lord, there’s no hopeless situation. Only make sure that you are following God’s plan. Once you are following him, your battles becomes his battles. Lastly for today, we must learn that God always hear the cry of his people and will always come through for them, no matter the situation.
Prayer : Thank you Father God because you can never fail or disappoint. Thank you because you always hear the cry of your people. Thank you because whatever good works you began in my life and family, you are able to perfect. Thank you because no power can stop what you began in my life in Jesus wonderful name…. Amen 🙏🏿.
Yearly Bible Reading : Acts 5:1-16.
