Topic : Live To Attract Divine Intervention.
Memory Verse : 2 Chronicles 15:15. All the people of Judah were happy because they had made this covenant with all their heart. They took delight in worshipping the Lord, and he accepted them and gave them peace on every side.
Bible Reading : 2 Chronicles 15:10-12 GNB. Key Verse : v12.
They assembled in Jerusalem in the third month of the fifteenth year that Asa was king. On that day they offered sacrifices to the Lord from the loot they had brought back: 700 head of cattle and 7,000 sheep. They made a covenant in which they agreed to worship the Lord, the God of their ancestors, with all their heart and soul.
Asa did very well when he got to power in Judah after the demise of his father king Abijah. Because he honoured the Lord God of Israel, the Lord made him to enjoy peace for ten good years. “He removed the foreign altars and the pagan places of worship, broke down the sacred stone columns, and cut down the symbols of the goddess Asherah. He commanded the people of Judah to do the will of the Lord, the God of their ancestors, and to obey his teachings and commands. Because he abolished the pagan places of worship and the incense altars from all the cities of Judah, the kingdom was at peace under his rule. He built fortifications for the cities of Judah during this time, and for several years there was no war, because the Lord gave him peace.” 2 Chronicles 14:3-6.
“An Ethiopian named Zerah invaded Judah with an army of a million men and 300 chariots and advanced as far as Mareshah. Asa went out to fight him, and both sides took up their positions in the Valley of Zephathah near Mareshah. Asa prayed to the Lord his God, “O Lord, you can help a weak army as easily as a powerful one. Help us now, O Lord our God, because we are relying on you, and in your name we have come out to fight against this huge army. Lord, you are our God; no one can hope to defeat you.” The Lord defeated the Ethiopian army when Asa and the Judean army attacked them. They fled,” 2 Chronicles 14:9-12. As they fled, Asa and his army pursued and killed them in large numbers. They went ahead to attack other enemy cities around plundering them and returning with much booties. The Lord was pleased with Asa’s pursuit of God and his confidence in him and sent Azariah the Prophet to encourage him as he returned from the battle with the Ethiopians.
“The Spirit of God came upon Azariah son of Oded, and he went to meet King Asa. He called out, “Listen to me, King Asa, and all you people of Judah and Benjamin! The Lord is with you as long as you are with him. If you look for him, he will let you find him, but if you turn away, he will abandon you. 2 Chronicles 15:1-2. Today we have to learn from the initial success and experience of king Asa that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom which increases the years of a man and multiplies his days (Proverbs 9:10-11). As long as the king honoured the Lord, he was mightily helped and blessed. His peace knew no boundaries. Even when the enemy amassed a stronger army to invade his territory, he went back to the Lord and turned the battle over to him who can never lose any battle in life. We must therefore learn to turn our battles over to the Lord. That gives him the legal ground to take over such battles in full force, to gurrantee our victory. Deuteronomy 20:1-4.
Prayer :Thank you Father God because of your love and total care. Help me to live to please you all my days. Let my life be such that will always attract your favour and intervention in everything I do. I turn all my battles over to you, because you can never lose any battles in Jesus mighty name…. Amen 🙏🏿.
Yearly Bible Reading : Mathew 25:31-46.
