Topic :Making Yourself More Useful.

Memory Verse::2 Timothy 2:23. But keep away from foolish and ignorant arguments; you know that they end up in quarrels.

Bible Reading :2 Timothy 2:20-22 Key Verse : v20.

In a large house there are dishes and bowls of all kinds: some are made of silver and gold, others of wood and clay; some are for special occasions, others for ordinary use. If anyone makes himself or herself clean from all those evil things, they will be used for special purposes, because they are dedicated and useful to their Master, ready to be used for every good deed. Avoid the passions of youth, and strive for righteousness, faith, love, and peace, together with those who with a pure heart call out to the Lord for help.

Apostle Paul was giving his son in the faith some counsel that will help him get the best of his Christianity or calling. Apostle Paul took time to pray for his converts and stayed in touch with them to nurture them and help them birth God’s plan for their individual and collective lives. He wrote most of his letters to individuals and groups from prison because of his dedication to the assignment. “A soldier on active service wants to please his commanding officer and so does not get mixed up in the affairs of civilian life. An athlete who runs in a race cannot win the prize unless he obeys the rules. The farmer who has done the hard work should have the first share of the harvest. Think about what I am saying, because the Lord will enable you to understand it all.” 2 Timothy 2:4-7. .

Paul was letting Timothy understand that his success in life and ministry was dependent on him and not any other personality somewhere else. There were things Timothy needed to learn as well as do, to be able to get the best his endeavour in the ministry, he needed to discipline himself and have self control in many areas, as well as work hard to be able to successfully birth the vision as given him by the almighty. Hear the Apostle….. “Remember Jesus Christ, who was raised from death, who was a descendant of David, as is taught in the Good News I preach. Because I preach the Good News, I suffer and I am even chained like a criminal. But the word of God is not in chains, and so I endure everything for the sake of God’s chosen people, in order that they too may obtain the salvation that comes through Christ Jesus and brings eternal glory. This is a true saying: “If we have died with him, we shall also live with him.” 2 Timothy 2:8-11.

Today we have to learn from the huge experience of Apostle Paul that whatever we get out of Christianity or following Christ, will be dependent of what we sow into our relationship with him. Men who achieve much approach issues of faith with total commitment and put in their best in efforts and in their walk with the master. Again from what Apostle Paul told Timothy, we can see that how effective we become in God’s hands as vessels depends on how we carry what we have. It is our responsibility to avoid activities and involvements that run down our spiritual batteries. That is where vessels becomes separated (honour and dishonour). The more we are able to identify things that fuel carnality and run away from them, the more we can be useful. That makes it easy for God to be able to pass through us tp bless other men that encounters us in our lifetime.

Prayer :Thank you Father God because you saved me, so that you can make me a channel to reach and bless others. Help me to run away from every activities that undermines your plan to use me the way you desire. Make me a ready vessel through which you can always reach out to my generation in Jesus wonderful name… Amen 🙏🏿.
