Topic :Celebrate With Understanding.

Memory Verse :Luke 2:7. She gave birth to her first son, wrapped him in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger — there was no room for them to stay in the inn.

Bible Reading :Luke 2:4-6 GNB. Key Verse : v5.

Joseph went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to the town of Bethlehem in Judea, the birthplace of King David. Joseph went there because he was a descendant of David. He went to register with Mary, who was promised in marriage to him. She was pregnant, and while they were in Bethlehem, the time came for her to have her baby.

Jesus Christ was born in a most humble way that many are not able to understand why such a Messiah should be born in such a simple and humble manner, in a manger and not a very important palace. This is because the thoughts and ways of God is far higher than our ways as men. There were witnesses to what God was upto as heralded by angels that appeared to the shepherds in the field with the good news. “”An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone over them. They were terribly afraid, but the angel said to them, There were some shepherds in that part of the country who were spending the night in the fields, taking care of their flocks. Don’t be afraid! I am here with good news for you, which will bring great joy to all the people. This very day in David’s town your Saviour was born — Christ the Lord!” Luke 2:8-11.

“And this is what will prove it to you: you will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth and lying in a manger.” Suddenly a great army of heaven’s angels appeared with the angel, singing praises to God: “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom he is pleased!” When the angels went away from them back into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us.” So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph and saw the baby lying in the manger. When the shepherds saw him, they told them what the angel had said about the child. All who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said. Mary remembered all these things and thought deeply about them. The shepherds went back, singing praises to God for all they had heard and seen; it had been just as the angel had told them.” Luke 2:12-20.

Now it is good to point out here that Jesus was not born on 25th of December, rather it is a day the Catholic Church chose to celebrate his birth. The truth is that despite every skepticism exhibited by some people because of questions sorounding the actual date Christ was born and ancient Roman traditions, Jesus Christ, the saviour of the world is worth celebrating. The time of celebrating Christ birth should be a time of sober reflection and spiritual stock taking or evaluation. This season, we need to ask ourselves sincere questions about the impact of his birth death and resurrection on our personal lives as individuals. Jesus came to the earth to save mankind from sin and it’s attendant effects. The question now is are you really saved? If Jesus Christ should return to the earth today to take his own, are you sure we shall be qualified to go with him? If you breath your last now, are you sure of seeing him in victory over the world and sin? Christmas is not all about eating good food, taking holidays, visiting loved ones and things like that, but about making conscious efforts to part of his kingdom on earth, so that you live all your days to please him. “I am the gate. Whoever comes in by me will be saved; they will come in and go out and find pasture. The thief comes only in order to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come in order that you might have life — life in all its fullness. “I am the good shepherd, who is willing to die for the sheep.”” John 10:9-11.

Prayer :Thank you Father God for giving us Jesus Christ your son. Help me to celebrate his birth soberly. Let my life be one that pleases you Lord Jesus. Your birth, death and resurrection will never be in vain in my life in Jesus wonderful name….. Amen 🙏🏿.
