Memory Verse : Acts 22:21. “Then he said to me, ‘Go at once, for I am sending you to preach to the non-Jewish nations.’”
Bible Reading : Acts 22:8-10 TPT. Key Verse : v10.
“I answered, ‘Who are you, my Lord?’ “He said to me, ‘I am Jesus, the Victorious. I am the one you are persecuting.’ “Those who were with me saw the brilliant light, but they didn’t hear the voice of the one who spoke to me. “So I asked, ‘Lord, what am I to do?’ “And the Lord said to me, ‘Get up and go into Damascus, and there you will be told about all that you are destined to do.’
Here we see Apostle Paul arrested in Jerusalem in fulfillment of the prophecy of Agabus. The Jews failed to understand the move of God as revealed through the life of Jesus, whose life and ministry they misunderstood. The high priests saw him as a spoiler to their means of livelihood. They desired to live in what was fading or what God was doing away with. They couldn’t understand the dispensation of grace that replaced the era where they related with God based on the Tora or laws of Moses. When they conspired and killed Jesus, thinking that his death will end his work on earth. But they were wrong as that became the seal of the new order or testament. His blood as was shed on the cross became all that God needed to perfect the work of redemption. After Pentecost, the disciples was equipped by his Spirit to bear witness to the truth they knew about God’s plan of redemption made available in christ Jesus. Apostle Paul was leading the wave of persecution against the saints when grace located him and turned him into a witness to the truth.
“The men accompanying Saul were stunned and speechless, for they heard a heavenly voice but could see no one. Saul replied, “Who are you, Lord?” “I am Jesus, the Victorious, the one you are persecuting. Now, get up and go into the city, where you will be told what you are to do.” Saul stood to his feet, and even though his eyes were open he could see nothing—he was blind. So the men had to take him by the hand and lead him into Damascus.”” Acts 9:5-8. Paul had intentions to serve God, but was getting it wrong because he lacked understanding. He collected letters of authority from the high priests of his days and rulers to arrest, kill and maim as many as he could lay hands on standing for Jesus, thinking they were violating the ways of their fathers which is Judaism. God had to reveal his mercy to him, so that he could channel that zeal he had for the God of his fathers to the place where it will really benefit himself and the kingdom of God. As a result that tough encounter with Jesus on his way to Damascus, his life became a blessing instead of him a scourge.
As we enter a new month, we need to take some lessons from the experience of Apostle Paul. The first lesson here today is that men don’t fight for the true and living God who created heaven and earth. The living God is able to fight for himself, his course and also those who serve him in Spirit and in Truth. In our generation many think they can fight for the idols of their fathers that the move of God is sweeping away into oblivion, not knowing that they are digging their own graves because no one fights God or his true messengers and succeed. Another truth we need to pick here is that some experiences some of us are having is because God desires to reposition them, so that they can fulfil divine purpose. This is not all about preaching the gospel, but this move of God will touch carers and businesses. There are men God desires to reposition and empower for more productivity in their lifetime in different spheres of life. Such men need to be sensitive to pick divine intelligence that will change the trajectory of their lives including business and career from what it is presently to what God wants it to be. Such men will also need courage to take steps of faith in obedience the voice of the Spirit because therein lies the key to answer to their prayers for growth and increase. Joshua 1:6-7.
