ENTHRONEMENT ASSEMBLY DAILY DEVOTIONALS.

Sunday September 15th, 2024.

Topic : Responsible Christianity.

Memory Verse : 2 Timothy 2:11. This is a true saying: “If we have died with him, we shall also live with him.

Bible Reading : 2 Timothy 2:8.-10 GNB. Key Verse: v10.

Remember Jesus Christ, who was raised from death, who was a descendant of David, as is taught in the Good News I preach. Because I preach the Good News, I suffer and I am even chained like a criminal. But the word of God is not in chains,. and so I endure everything for the sake of God’s chosen people, in order that they too may obtain the salvation that comes through Christ Jesus and brings eternal glory.

Serving God is a life full of sacrifices. Christianity itself is founded on the sacrifice of the cross that made ordinary sinners like me and you to migrate into the realm of righteousness because of the shed blood of Jesus that cleansed us and made us qualified to be called his own. When John 3:16 spoke up about God’s gift of love in his son, he was talking about the highest sacrifice heaven made because of man. Even the early disciples whom Jesus Christ handed over the baton of faith to at Pentecost sustained the message of life by a lifestyle of undending sacrifices that demanded even their personal lives at the end. That is what it means to die to self and the world, a situation where our personal interest and the views of men becomes secondary in everything we do.

Looking at the life of Apostle Paul, he poured out his entire being and life into the heavenly vision of Christ that he had. The conviction he had about the master was so strong that nothing else made sense to him, even in the midst of heavy persecution targeted at stopping him. “Five times I was given the 39 lashes by the Jews;. three times I was whipped by the Romans; and once I was stoned. I have been in three shipwrecks, and once I spent 24 hours in the water. In my many travels I have been in danger from floods and from robbers, in danger from fellow-Jews and from Gentiles; there have been dangers in the cities, dangers in the wilds, dangers on the high seas, and dangers from false friends. There has been work and toil; often I have gone without sleep; I have been hungry and thirsty; I have often been without enough food, shelter, or clothing. And not to mention other things, every day I am under the pressure of my concern for all the churches.” 2 Corinthians 11:24-28.

Today, we need to realise the need to be responsible believers just like men that went ahead of us whose accounts we study daily. Everything we enjoy in the kingdom today is because of the sacrifices of those who were ahead of us. In like manner, what the next generation will become will be shaped by our present day activities. We need to understand that as present day custodians of divine mysteries or agenda, we have to put in everything within our reach to make sure that we are able to give those coming behind us the right future, should Christ tarry; that is what I call ‘responsible Christianity’. Now if I may ask, what are you doing for Jesus Christ personally that should affect the next generation? Are you one of those who fold their arms and keep finding faults and apportioning blames? Are you building with Christ or pulling down what he is building through the genuine efforts of others? Now ask yourself again, if every believer is like myself, what will the kingdom of God look like or become tomorrow? Never forget that you just have one life to live. Hebrews 9:27.

Prayer : Thank you Father God for counting me worthy to be called your own because of what Jesus did. Thank you for everyone whose sacrifices shaped my life in you. Help me to contribute my quota effectively in your kingdom building business in Jesus precious name…. Amen 🙏🏿.

Yearly Bible Reading : John 14:15-31.
