Bible Reading :Acts 27:22-24 TPT. Key Verse : v23.
Now listen to me. Don’t be depressed, for no one will perish—only the ship will be lost. For God’s angel visited me last night, the angel of my God, the God I passionately serve. He came and stood in front of me and said, ‘Don’t be afraid, Paul. You are destined to stand trial before Caesar. And because of God’s favor on you, he has given you the lives of everyone who is sailing with you.’
Apostle Paul was on his way to Rome in defense of the gospel, having been arrested in Jerusalem and tried and found not worthy of death as enemies of the gospel desired from the authorities. When he was brought before Festus who heard him alongside king Agrippa and Bernice, they found out that it was just some religious arguments and that he didn’t commit any offense that should make him die as was being demanded by his accusers. They would have set him free, but couldn’t because he had earlier appealed to Ceaser on the judgment seat of Festus. Now the journey to Rome by sea was turbulent that season and Paul by the Spirit had sensed great danger ahead and warned that the journey be delayed. But the people in charge was more interested in what professionals in the field had to say than an ordinary prisoner. The sailed into murky waters therefore and almost perished with the entire people on board.
“Men, I can see that our voyage would be disastrous for us and bring great loss, not only to our ship and cargo but also to our own lives. We should remain here.” But the officer in charge was persuaded more by the ship’s helmsman and captain than he was by Paul. So the majority decided to put out to sea, since Fair Haven was an exposed harbor and not suitable to winter in. They had hoped to somehow reach the Cretan port of Phineka, which was a more suitable port because it was facing south.” Acts 27:10-12. Their voyage became terrible and to the point that their lives were threatened on sea. In the midst of trouble and confusion of both crew and members, Apostle Paul began to seek the face of God whom he served. He prevailed with God to saving of many souls who were on board with him, though they lost their goods and valuables. “Some sailors pretended to go down to drop anchors from the bow when in fact they wanted to lower the lifeboat into the sea and escape, abandoning ship. Paul said to the Roman officer and his soldiers, “Unless you all stay together onboard the ship, you have no chance of surviving.” Acts 27:30-31.
Today we have to learn the power of a working relationship with God through this incident. At the time when nothing else could work, Apostle Paul had to fall back on the God whom he belonged to and served with every part of his being. Understand today that your service to and relationship with God is a very great asset or investment you can always withdrawn from or leverage on in times of need. Again understand that God’s presence you carry secures you anywhere you find yourself including people around you for your sake. Therefore in times of trouble or danger, when others are panicking, learn to talk the God whom you belong to like Apostle Paul. The Lord holds the key to your triumph in every situation you find yourself, what you are seeing notwithstanding. “Thus saith the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD is his name; Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” Jeremiah 33:2-3 KJV.
Prayer : Thank you Father God because you can never disappoint. Thank you because my service to you and relationship with you secures me and my loved ones. In the midst of trouble, you will always be my peace. Thank you for being my ever present help in times of trouble in Jesus wonderful name…. Amen 🙏🏿.
