ENTHRONEMENT ASSEMBLY DAILY DEVOTIONALS.
Sunday March 17th, 2024.
Topic : Teach Us To Pray (1).
Memory Verse : Luke 11:9. And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
Bible Reading :Luke 11:1-3. Key Verse : v1.
And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. Give us day by day our daily bread.
Jesus just finished spending time in the place of prayer in the company of some of his disciples, when one of his disciples asked him to teach themselves how to pray. They had seen the effect of prayer in the life of Jesus and his earthly ministry, and desired to do exactly what he was doing. It is good to note here that what Jesus taught his disciples was rudiments of prayer and not a prayer itself as many used to think. The purpose of this teaching was for them to know as to observe the principles that govern answered prayers anytime they want to pray. For any prayers to command divine attention, these rules has to be observed by the praying man, if desired results must be achieved. One of the rules he taught them here was that they had to see and approach God as a father who is above all ( which art in heaven). “He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all. And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony.
He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true.” John 3:31-33.
Now when we call God father, it has far reaching implications. One of such implications is that we look upto him in everything (we are dependent on him), just as children look upto their eathly father to meet their needs (give us this day our daily bread). A second implication is that we have to approach God always with audacity or confidence knowing surely that he has our interest uppermost in his heart as his children. We therefore don’t harbour any form of fears or doubts when we are dealing with him. We are sure that he will always deliver and at the right time too. A third implication is that we have a working relationship with him, just the way children don’t struggle or need a third party to relate with their biological father. The other implication is that we reverence, honour, hallow or accord him due respect as a father while relating effectively.
Another principle that will ensure answered prayers as we can see here is that we have to be kingdom minded in our pursuits, desires and petitions. “Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:31-33. God’s desire is to make men live like angels on earth as it was before the fall. Now all that Jesus came to do is to restore that which man lost at the fall. When your desires align with God’s purpose of enforcing his will in the lives of men including territories, your answers will always come cheaply.
Prayer : Thank you Father God because of your faithfulness in every generation. Help me to always pray with understanding, as I align with you in my pursuits and prayer life. Thank you because your will always be done in my life and generation in Jesus wonderful name….. Amen 🙏🏿.
Yearly Bible Reading : Ruth 3:1-18.
