ENTHRONEMENT ASSEMBLY DAILY DEVOTIONALS.
Tuesday 26th December, 2023.
Topic: Let His Birth Count In Your Life.
Memory Verse: Luke 19:10. For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
Bible Reading :Luke 19:7-9 KJV. Key Verse: v7.
And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner. And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.
Zachaeus was a rich tax collector (republican) in his days. The Jews always saw such people as agents of oppression of their own people in the hands of the Roman empire of those days who had political control over them. Not only that, the words of Zachaeus himself confirmed he was corrupt and oppressive in his practices…
“Zachaeus joyously welcomed Jesus and was amazed over his gracious visit to his home. Zacchaeus stood in front of the Lord and said, “Half of all that I own I will give to the poor. And Lord, if I have cheated anyone, I promise to pay back four times as much as I stole.” Luke 19:8 TPT.
Despite his shortcomings as a man, Zachaeus had a hunger to meet Jesus Christ, having heard much about the most popular and impactful man that ever lived. His snall stature couldn’t allow him because of the crowd that followed Jesus. He had to devise a means to at least cast his eyes on Jesus and have a good view of him and if possible speak with him. That burning desire made him climb a sycomore tree by the wayside of the road Jesus was taking. When Jesus saw him there on the tree, he took note of his hunger and sacrifice in order to see Christ. I believe that Jesus also noticed that deep in his heart, he longed for a life changing encounter, he didn’t just want to see him for seeing sake, just like any other person. It was that inner hunger Christ saw that made him visit his home to finish the work. “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” Matthew 5:6.
As we celebrate Jesus Christ this season by remembering his birth, he is still going round looking for men who desire an encounter with him just like brother Zachaeus. He still wants to remind us that he came primarily to seek and to save those who were lost in sin. He remains the best friend any man including sinners can make, because only him has capacity to deliver men from our sinful nature when we surrender to him, how terrible our lives might have been notwithstanding. “He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:11-13.
Prayer :Thank you Lord Jesus for coming to seek and to save a helpless sinner like me. I have a hunger in my spirit to know you more. Take me deeper into your realm, reveal yourself to me afresh. Let your birth and sacrifice count in my life forever in Jesus wonderful name…. Amen 🙏🏿.
